Description

We signed a one year lease and only signed the lease because we were told while viewing the rental by the landlord's sister who was the one that showed us the house, that this house 49 Bannister Crescent was purchased by the landlord as a home to generate RENTAL INCOME.

About 7 months into our lease after me inquiring about wanting to garden/plant, the landlord sent an e-mail saying that she wanted to let us know that she was planning on moving her mother into the home after our 1 year lease. Despite it being shady since we were told by the landlord's sister this was her rental income property, we didn't argue and were cooperative and were issued an N12 notice in September of 2017.

We moved out February 1 2018. And lo' and behold, 2 weeks later the house was listed on all rental websites for a much higher price than we were paying. We had the house for $1650, it was listed for over $2000 with the price dropping down in late February 2018.

First of all, the landlord NEVER gave us 1 month's compensation that is required for landlord's to give when issuing an N12 notice due to family moving in. And then to top it off, she lied. And I am currently undergoing proceedings in the LTB to get compensation that is owed for issuing an N12 for family use + issuing an N12 in bad faith as well as covering any moving costs.
