Description

This 3 bedroom townhouse condo is rented to 5 roommates, each on separate leases. My roommates and I received an N12 on April 29, saying we had to move out by July 1st. The landlord said they were going to sell the house and the new owner would likely want it for themselves. Their N12 was completely void, however, because they need to enter an agreement of sale before issuing an N12, and they admitted they had not even put the house on the market yet. They then apologized and told us to sign N11s instead.

The landlords say that they are worried about being fined by the condo board because they are not supposed to rent to roommates, only to families. So they are selling the house as a precaution. However, this is not our problem at all, and the landlords chose this extremely profitable route to rent out the house. They are collecting 50-100% more rent than if they were to rent it to a family. The only way we can be kicked out is if the new owners want it for their personal use.

They have yet to even put the house on the market, so there is nothing they can do to kick us out, however, all my roommates are planning on moving.
