Description

My issues with my landlord started when my family and I moved in back in 2018. But in 2020 he sent an "assessor" which turned out to be the real estate agent that sold him the house 5 years prior at the time. He told us that he was going to be putting the house on the market and asked us if we wanted to be put down as occupant. We of course said yes and that was the last we heard of it. Fast forward to June 2021. My landlord, yet again, said that he was sending another assessor to the house. They turned out to be potential buyers because we had interacted with 2 real assessors that he sent before who left us with cards and a number to reach them at. They would take videos and notes while walking through the house with us and explaining what they were doing. The men he sent did not speak to us, take pictures or videos, never left us a card and spoke of adding a bathroom in the basement. The following week my landlord asked me for half the rent early for an emergency. We did just that. One week after we paid the remaining amount of rent he sent me an email saying that he was taking the house back. And sending and N12. Well the first one he sent was filled out incorrectly on purpose. I confirmed it with Legal aid and let him know that it was filled out wrong. He then sent me an email telling me that I used it to my advantage and that we better be out by the 2nd of November because he has renovators on standby. This proves that he is not planning on moving the home himself, but instead getting it ready for new tenants. I know my rights! And can't wait to take him to court.
