Landlord attempted to coax us into signing a new year lease, but if we wanted to stay we would need to start paying heat and hydro (approximately $150 extra per month). We told her we would let the lease go month to month therefore the terms on the lease would remain the same. We also told her we'd be happy to pay the standard 1.8% rent increase. She responded telling us she does not accept us going month to month and if we didn't accept the new terms we were out. She then stated that all she had to do to get us out was give us 30 days notice and she had done that. She told us she would be showing the unit to respective renters. We sought legal advice and after informing her of the law several times she finally stated that she was moving back in (after advertising the house for rent on her Facebook page). She delivered an N12 to us yesterday.
